Trouble-ShootingOften what appears to be a malfunction is actually a mistake one has made in plugging in headphones, light frames or power into the wrong place on the console. It's helpful to get as much information from the customer as possible on exactly what the problem is. The following gives you a guide on what kinds of questions to ask and what to look for: Have the person describe the problem. Get as much detail as possible. Make no assumptions regarding the machine being set up or used properly. For example:
Common Problems: The Light Frames are not working: 1. Are the light frames plugged into the correct jack? If yes, proceed to #2. 2. Is the light frame intensity turned down to low (control on top right of the machine)? 3. Let the program play for a few seconds. Many programs have a fade in and the lights may not start right away. Have the person try the machine on a few different programs as well. If none of the above solve the problem, then there may be a problem with the light frames.
The Console is not working: Does "not working" mean no power or power but nothing happens? If the machine does not power up, check the source of power. If they are using batteries, have them try it with the AC or vice versa or a fresh set of (new) batteries. If the machine powers up but nothing happens when they press play (ask if they pressed "play" - the top button on the face of the console). If they pressed "play" and nothing happens, ask what they see in the console screen? Sometimes someone will say the machine doesn't work and the problem is that they don't have it on "P" or "AS" (P = program, AS = AudioStrobe). This problem is solved by pressing the middle button "U/II" until you get either "P12" (or any other number) or "AS" if they are trying to use the machine with the Audiostrobe CD. The machine shuts off in the middle of the program: Check the source of power. If they are using batteries have them plug the machine into an outlet with the AC. If the machine works, the problem was likely the batteries.
